English Shòrtbread Còòkies
Ingredients
- 1 pòund butter (4 sticks/2 cups)
- 8 cups white flòur
- 1.75 cups granulated sugar,
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 tsp cream òf tarter
- 1/2 tsp baking sòda
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp lemòn extract (òr substitute with almònd)
- yellòw fòòd còlòring (if desired)
- candied cherry fòr garnishment (if desired)
Tips
- As children, we use tò sneak the plate òf còòkies at Christmas and hide them, sò we còuld keep them all tò òurselves. These were the hit òf every hòliday party. The dòugh is suppòse tò be dry - that is usual!
Directiòns
- Mix flòur, butter and sugar tògether. Mix will be pòwdery.
- Mix rest òf ingredients, add tò dry mix.
- Ròll dòugh 1/4" thick and cut òut (I use a ròund drinking glass fòr a cutter). They còuld alsò be pressed intò a shòrtbread còòkie mòld. Add 1/2 òf candied cherry tò center òf còòkie as decòratiòn.
